'Now, he has started drugging my daughter': Pallavi accused ex-Karnataka DGP Om Prakash of lacing food with insulin, hacking their devices

Pallavi, the wife of retired DG&IGP Om Prakash, has been arrested for his murder, following the discovery of his body with multiple stab wounds at their residence. Pallavi alleges that her husband was drugging their daughter and accused him of property greed and jealousy. Their daughter, Kriti, was uncooperative with the police, prompting a forced entry and subsequent hospital assessment.
'Now, he has started drugging my daughter': Pallavi accused ex-Karnataka DGP Om Prakash of lacing food with insulin, hacking their devices
BENGALURU: The wife of retired Karnataka DG&IGP Om Prakash was arrested on Monday evening in connection with his murder. Pallavi, 64, has been charged with killing her husband, who was found dead in their HSR Layout residence on Sunday evening with multiple stab wounds.
According to police, Om Prakash, 68, was allegedly stabbed several times in the neck, shoulder, abdomen, and back. Investigators say the attack took place after a heated argument and that Prakash reportedly pleaded for his life during the assault.
Pallavi claims husband drugged daughter
Following her arrest, Pallavi made a series of alarming claims. She alleged that her husband had been drugging their daughter, Kriti, and had rendered her digital devices — such as her phone and laptop — non-functional or hacked.
“Now, he has started drugging my daughter, targeting her brain just because she started raising her voice. My daughter is dying every day. We are in a very precarious, dangerous, unsafe situation and need urgent help and security. My daughter’s phone, laptop and all digital devices have been hacked or made dysfunctional. As for proof, there is no dearth.”
Pallavi also accused him of lacing her food with insulin and sanitiser, putting their lives at risk.
Greed and jealousy behind all events: Pallavi
Pallavi also claimed that the motive behind her husband's actions stemmed from property greed and jealousy. My husband is siding with our son and daughter-in-law out of sheer greed.
“My husband tries to cover up his acts by declaring people as mentally unstable as and when required. All these events are for the sake of property greed and jealousy. My husband is supporting my son and daughter-in-law. Greed. Lust for money corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely,” her message read.
Kriti uncooperative; resists police entry
Kriti remained uncooperative when police arrived at her third-floor residence on Sunday for investigation. They were compelled to break open the door as she refused to let them in. She became agitated and declined to accompany the officers.
Police sources revealed that she repeatedly warned them against physical contact. She was initially unwilling to provide her fingerprints and only agreed after considerable persuasion. Following the interrogation, a senior police officer confirmed that Kriti was escorted to hospital for assessment.
Property dispute under investigation
Investigators are examining various aspects, including the real estate disagreement between the spouses. Most of Prakash's real estate holdings are situated in Uttara Kannada district, where he served as superintendent of police in the early 1990s.
According to family members' statements to police, Prakash acquired several acres in Joida during 2011-12. He owns a farmhouse spread across five acres. Police sources revealed that Pallavi has claimed Prakash refused to share any property with her or their daughter.
Police have launched a comprehensive investigation, which includes probing Pallavi’s mental health, the couple’s long-standing property dispute, and her claims of domestic violence.
'Struggled for 15 minutes before last breath'
According to sources, Prakash is suspected to have struggled lying on the floor for over 15 minutes before breathing his last. His lungi and banian were soaked in blood by the time a police team reached the spot, a senior officer said.
