Singer Nick Jonas has always maintained a fine balance between family and fame, especially after stepping into fatherhood with wife Priyanka Chopra. Now, in a rare moment of openness, the Sucker hitmaker has revealed how their three-year-old daughter Malti Marie Chopra Jonas is already showing signs of being a performer but the decision to enter the entertainment industry will be entirely hers.
During his recent appearance on The Kelly Clarkson Show, Nick, who is currently starring in the Broadway revival of The Last Five Years opposite Adrienne Warren, was asked whether he’d support his daughter if she decided to pursue the same path. The question came after Adrienne reflected on how tough it was starting her career at 19 and expressed her own hesitation about her children entering the business.
‘She sings a lot, but it’s her call’
Nick smiled before responding that he and Priyanka have had multiple conversations about this topic. “It’s going to be her choice. We have a three-year-old, and she loves to sing,” he admitted, adding that while the entertainment world can be “wonderful,” it also comes with many unseen challenges.
“I think an entertainment career is a wonderful career. It’s also scary as a parent to think about all the things that I went through, my wife has gone through in her career,” he said, referring to the highs and lows he and Priyanka have both experienced in the spotlight.
He also opened up about the delicate balance parents must strike: “Your one job in life is to protect your kids, but it’s also to let them fly and live their life.”
‘She’s not into soccer though…’
While music may be a natural inclination for Malti, sports might not be. “She’s singing a ton and I’m like, ‘Uh-oh’,” Nick said, laughing. “She’s not into soccer, though. We tried to take her to soccer practice, she wasn’t having it.”
Nick credited his own parents for setting an example, allowing him and his brothers to dream big while quietly worrying in the background. “I’m so grateful to my parents for letting us take big risks and chances. They did a great job of balancing that support but also being a little scared at times.”

Malti’s future: star in the making or something else entirely?
Nick and Priyanka, who tied the knot in a grand wedding ceremony in 2018, became parents to Malti via surrogacy in 2022. Though fiercely protective of her, the couple has occasionally offered fans glimpses of their daughter’s joyful moments, be it at a Jonas Brothers concert or a cozy family vacation.

Only time will tell if Malti chooses to follow in her famous parents’ footsteps. But as of now, Nick Jonas is content watching her explore the world, one note at a time.
