There are a lot of good anime shows with a plethora of legendary characters. However, one character that surpassed the protagonist of the show in gathering a cult audience was Itachi Uchiha from Naruto Shippuden.
That character has been written with so much depth and patience that it shines bright in all aspects despite being portrayed as a villain in the beginning. And all those of you who have watched Naruto already know that Itachi was one of the most qualified shinobi to become the Hokage. Here in the article, we will explore why the shining knight of Uchiha became the clan killer and chose to join Akatsuki.
Why Itachi could have been a great Hokage and why did he leave that path?
Itachi Uchiha was a prodigy, one that had never been seen in the Uchiha clan. He graduated from the ninja academy at seven years, became a Chunin at 10 and was captain of the Anbu Corps at 13.
With the amount of potential he held, the elders of Konoha (Most of them were heaters of the Uchiha clan and often indulged in discriminatory action) started looking for opportunities to make Itachi look like a villain.
And finally, the opportunity knocked on the door of elders where they got to know that the Uchiha clan members were planning an attack against Konoha for their rights. Citing that, Danzo and other elders from the village asked Itachi to eradicate his clan and become the restriction against the civil war.
Itachi being Itachi, eliminated his clan, got the tainted title of Clan Killer and moved forward to join Akatsuki. His main motto behind joining Akatsuki was to keep a check on the members (as it was a terrorist organization) and keep Konoha protected from them.
It will be safe to say that Itachi Uchiha is one of the most twisted characters ever written by anyone. From the point where he could have been a successful Hokage to becoming one of the most hated characters until Obito spills the beans, Itachi will remain an unforgettable hero for both Konoha and Naruto fans.
