Mika Singh who is well known for his songs in Hindi and Punjabi has revealed in a recent interview that he gets emotional about his singing. He recalled the time when he ended up crying in front of Priyanka Chopra after hearing himself sing. He also spoke about people trolling him for the same. Mika said during a chat with Shubhankar Mishra, "Sometimes I would cry listening to my own songs.I think it’s age also. I cried after singing two lines of a song on a reality show. If I tell somebody, they won’t believe me. They will say, ‘Kaunsa tu Tansen ki aulad hai’.”The singer also added, “I was singing the song ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hain’ at the show and I became happy listening to myself sing. Priyanka Chopra was sitting beside me, and I started crying. Trolls said, ‘He can’t sing, that’s why he is crying.’ Now, the whole industry cries on reality shows, but when I used to do that, people would ask me, ‘Why are you doing this?'”In the same interview, Mika also spoke about how he once went uninvited to Amitabh Bachchan's Diwali party where he felt so out of place. Yet, Amitabh Bachchan was very gracious and humble and introduced him to everyone.
Earlier in an interview with Screen, Mika revealed he wanted to be a music director. "In 1998, when my song ‘Saawan Mein Lag Gayi Aag’ came, it became a hit. But at the time, I wanted to be a music director, and not a singer. That is why I didn’t pay a lot of attention to my singing in the song. It didn’t matter to me that the song had a nasal tone," he said.
