Nushrratt Bharuccha recently spoke about the Deepfake case involving Rashmika Mandanna and said it was very scary. In an interview, she pointed out how easily technology can be used in the wrong way. In 2023, a fake video of Rashmika had gone viral online.
Concern Over AI and Lack of Digital Awareness
Talking to News18, Nushrratt shared her concern over Deepfake and AI technology, calling it scary and difficult to understand. She admitted she wasn’t raised in the digital age and lacks the technical knowledge to handle such situations. If something similar happened to her, she wouldn’t know what steps to take. Nushrratt expressed the need for strong support systems, including cybercrime experts, to help victims navigate and stop such incidents. She emphasized that as technology grows rapidly, it's important to have proper help to identify and punish the culprits.

Rashmika’s Viral Video Sparks Outrage
The viral deepfake video showed a woman with Rashmika's face entering a lift in a fitted outfit. It was later confirmed to be fake. The clip drew major attention when Amitabh Bachchan demanded legal action on X. Celebrities like Nani, Vijay Deverakonda, Naga Chaitanya, and Mrunal Thakur also voiced their concern.

An FIR was later registered under IPC sections 465 and 469 for forgery and damaging reputation, along with IT Act sections 66C and 66E. It was filed at the IFSO unit of Delhi Police’s Special Cell. The police also contacted META to trace the account that circulated the deepfake video.
Rashmika Breaks Silence on Deepfake Incident
Rashmika addressed the viral deepfake video of her, calling it frightening. She shared how such misuse of technology can harm anyone and expressed concern over people’s vulnerability. Grateful for her support system, she reflected on how difficult it would’ve been if this had happened during her school or college days.
