Actress Sanchita Ugale, who currently plays the female lead Sukoon in the romantic TV drama Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi, is on cloud nine as she lives her childhood dream. With heartfelt gratitude and genuine humility, Sanchita shares the journey with Times of India TV, that brought her to where she is today—and the sacrifices that continue to fuel her passion.
"It’s like a dream come true. Playing the lead role in Dilwali Dulha Le Jayegi still feels surreal. I dreamed of this moment, and now I can proudly say I am living my dream," said Sanchita.
But with great dreams come great responsibilities. As the face of the show, she juggles hectic 15-17 hour shoots, often sacrificing personal time and comfort.

“Being the lead is not like having a cup of tea. It’s a big responsibility. The artistic side of me is ecstatic, but the human side definitely feels the physical exhaustion,” she admits. “Still, I am extremely happy and grateful. We all know that to gain something big, we often have to give up something else. And I’m okay with that.”
Sanchita reflects on the contrast between the glamorous perception of stardom and its demanding reality.
“As an aspiring artist, I used to look at the glamour and think, ‘Wow!’ But now, I know how much goes on behind the scenes. Yet, even with all the exhaustion, I feel truly blessed to play Sukoon.
I’ll keep giving my best to entertain my lovely audience for life.”
Her passion for acting didn’t start overnight. It goes back to her childhood, when her father—who worked supplying water to television sets—would sometimes take her along. One unforgettable visit to the set of Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah changed everything.
“I was around 11 or 12. Watching the actors prepare, seeing the sets, the makeup, the vibe—it mesmerized me. I was drawn to everything—their grace, their aura, even the small things like their air-conditioned vanity vans and how people treated them with respect. That was it for me.”
That night, young Sanchita went home and told her father, “Papa mala pan heroine banaecha ahe!” (Dad, I also want to be a heroine!) Like many lower middle-class Indian families, her dream was met with skepticism. But she didn’t stop dreaming.
“Even if I stayed quiet, the acting bug had bitten me. I started watching TV shows religiously after school, imagining myself in those roles. I think, without realizing, I began manifesting my dream at that very young age. I’m forever thankful to everyone who supports me, loves me, and appreciates me. Truly, love you all to the moon and back.”

Having previously appeared in popular TV shows like Kumkum Bhagya and Wagle Ki Duniya – Nayi Peedhi Naye Kissey, and in Bollywood films such as Silence 2: The Night Owl Bar Shootout and Chhaava, Sanchita has carved a path all her own.
