Following the horrific Pahalgam terror attack that claimed 26 lives and left several others injured, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia strongly condemned the "heinous and cowardly act" and expressed the board’s support for the victims’ families during this difficult time.“The cricketing community is deeply shocked and anguished by the tragic loss of innocent lives in the gruesome terror attack at Pahalgam yesterday.On behalf of the BCCI, while condemning this ghastly and cowardly act with strongest possible words, I extend our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families and prayers for the departed souls. In sharing their pain and grief, we stand hand in hand at this hour of tragedy," Saikia said in a statement on Wednesday.

The attack took place on Tuesday afternoon, when terrorists opened fire on a group of tourists and locals in Baisaran Valley—a scenic meadow located roughly six kilometers from the popular tourist destination of Pahalgam in Jammu and Kashmir—leaving 26 people dead and many injured.
