The 27-year-old
DK Metcalf is all set for a deal worth $150 million contract for a term of five years with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
With no more confusion, the Steelers have secured their go-to big play wideout. The Seattle Seahawks have shipped Pro Bowler DK Metcalf to the Steelers in exchange for a second-round draft pick.
Sources say the two teams the Steelers and the Seahawks, are flipping 2025 picks for the sixth and seventh rounds.
The decision for the exchange was made on Sunday, March 9.
What are the reasons for MK Metcalf being traded by the Seahawks?
The receiver is one of the best and most consistent performers in the NFL since the beginning. He was drafted by the Seahawks in the year 2019.
After six years of consistent, it is time to say goodbye. Metcalf has recently requested for a trade last week and that has marked another shake up for the Seattle squad in flux.
According to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero, the decision of sending Metcalf to the Steelers by the Seahawks was taken on Sunday. This is not for the first time, but the entire NFL has rumors around the corner with Metcalf being traded soon.
Metcalf’s trade comes just few days after the Seahawks trade quarterback Geno Smith to the Las Vegas Raiders. For now the Seahawks have five picks in the first three rounds for the 2025 draft.
Reacting to the trade, the General Manager Omar Khan said to the reporters earlier during the NFL, “I can tell you that he has a desire to be great.”
Omar expresses his desire to keep the receiver in Pittsburgh and said, “He has a desire to be great here. We have a desire for him to be great and to be great here with respect to the contract.”
“But you know, we won't discuss that publicly, and usually those things are addressed at a later date,” Omar Khan added. Metcalf is known to be the “elite weapons in the league”.
One of the biggest reasons for Metcalf to be traded is the team was unable to find postseason success in his tenure.
As the Seahawks and Metcalf are all set to part their ways now, the Seahawks now turn to Jaxon Smith-Njigba to lead their wide receiver corps for the 2025 season.
