The Denver Nuggets followed 3–2 in the Western Conference semifinals after losing Game 5 to the Oklahoma City Thunder on 13 May 2025 at the Ball Arena in Denver. Despite Nikola Jokic's 44-point performance, the Oklahoma City Thunder took control of the series. Now, the Denver Nuggets' win in Game 6 has to stay alive, while the Oklahoma City Thunder aims to close it out and reach the Western Conference final.

In game 5, Nikola Jokic was excellent. He secured 44 points, pulled 15 rebounds, made five assists and had two ball thefts. Covington connected at five points and was 17 by 25 in his other field attempts. Regardless of having more players, the Nuggets could not beat the Oklahoma City Thunder.After Tuesday's game, Nikola Jokic told reporters, "We're not just giving them game 6.
