Saahdiq Charles is back in the NFL! Know the offensive guard's career history
From a very surprising angle, Charles had walked out of the Cowboys just last week and did enough for the team to offer him the contract, according to media reports.Charles signed a one-year deal with the Tennessee Titans in March of 2024, but in a few days, unexpectedly, he has to retire, citing personal reasons.
In March 2024, he announced his retirement decision publicly, and sooner than that, the Titans released him to be a free agent. Charles was also selected by the Washington Commanders in the 2020 final draft, fourth round.
The offensive guard was also a member of the famous 2020 championship team, which consisted of Joe Burrow, Ja’Marr Chase, and Justin Jefferson. He played 8 of 35 games with Washington for the four seasons.
Charles faced a setback when he was hit by a knee injury, which was a challenging time in his career. During his college days, he was a left tackle for the 2019 LSU National championship team.
His record is extraordinary as he was the second free agent for Dallas on the offensive line, after veteran Robert Jones. Charles's performance used to be considered as one of the best in college football history.
With the new move, the Cowboys and Charles believe in developing strong on-ground skills and with a 6'4, 320-pound frame as a good starting point. The Cowboys hold the 12th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
