South Carolina Republican Rep. Nancy Mace posted a profanity-laced video on social media over the weekend, showing a heated confrontation with a man who accused her of avoiding in-person town halls. The incident, which unfolded in a makeup store, quickly escalated into a shouting match filled with expletives, personal jabs, and political accusations.
In the clip, the man challenges Mace on her town hall schedule, prompting her to film the encounter and respond, “You could have gone to a dozen town halls last year.” She added that she has already held one this year and plans to “do plenty more,” saying, “you’re always invited.”

When the man continued pressing her, Mace snapped, “Do you want to keep going? You want to keep harassing me?” At one point, she brought up her record on gay marriage, stating, “And by the way, I voted for gay marriage twice.” The man, who never mentioned his sexuality, retorted, “There’s no other humane thing you can talk about me than to say, ‘Oh, I support gay marriage.’”
The tense exchange ended with both parties shouting “F–k you” at each other. As the man walked away, he called Mace a “disgrace to the state,” while Mace fired back, “You couldn’t take me on, baby. Stay the f–k away from me.”
The video comes amid growing tensions between Republican lawmakers and liberal protesters at public events. Last month, House GOP leaders encouraged members to shift toward virtual town halls, citing organised disruptions and safety risks. Mace herself recently skipped a town hall organised by the Lowcountry Accountability Alliance, citing threats to her and her team. “We’re staying away because it’s not safe,” she posted on X.
Elected in 2020, Mace has since solidified her hold on South Carolina’s 1st Congressional District after redistricting made the seat more conservative. She won reelection in 2024 by more than 16 percentage points.
Reflecting on the incident later, Mace quipped on X: “I just wanted some face wash on my afternoon off lol.”
