NEW DELHI: A suspicious object resembling a bomb was discovered on Friday morning in the Kishanghat area of Rajasthan’s Jaisalmer district, according to news agency PTI.
The item was found near a nursery in the Jogi colony, located opposite Kishanghat, under the jurisdiction of the Kotwali police station.
Kotwali SHO Prem Daan stated that the object appears to be bomb-like, and army experts are en route to Kishanghat to defuse it.
"It is currently not known if it is live or destroyed," he added.
Local resident Arjun Nath was the first to spot the object and quickly informed Kalyan Ram, a representative of the Kishanghat Sarpanch.
Authorities were then alerted, after which teams from the police and Air Force reached the scene.
The area has been sealed off as a precaution, and further investigation is in progress.
Initial observations suggest that the object may be part of a drone allegedly launched by Pakistan over Jaisalmer around 10.30 pm on Thursday. However, official confirmation is still awaited.
Authorities have appealed to the public to stay calm and adhere to safety protocols, as security measures have been ramped up in the region.
